Pete sings his tribute to geriatrics on the Smothers Brothers show. Nice to know that 40 years later, Pete still has a little more get up and go in him.

  • Pete Seeger is one of America's Treasures. He deserves all the accolades he deserves and continues to receive. A true poet and truebadour.

Instead of taking the Fifth Amendment back in the day, He chose to invoke the First Amendment — freedom of speech and freedom to assemble. Don't agree with a lot of his views, but I admire his battle to make this world a little bit better everyday

  • In an age where decisions are made by the click of a mouse the thought process is left out. No one seems to take the time to think anymore. Those of us that heed the call to really think are precious. I believe Pete Seeger has done that all his life. He makes you think and that is a good thing.

  • Pete Seeger was probably my dad's favorite singer/songwriter. He played his guitar and sang this song over and over in his younger days. He left us on January 21, 2012. This will be the final song at his memorial celebration. We're hoping we get all in attendance to sing along!

  • How do I know My youth is all spent My Get Up and Go Has got up and went, But in spite of it all I'm able to grin And think of the places My Get Up has been. Old age is golden So I've heard said, But sometimes I wonder As I crawl into bed, With my ears in a drwaer My teeth in a cup My eyes on the table, Until I wake up,
  • As sleep dimed my vision I say to myself Is there anything else I should lay on the shelf But though nations are warring And business is back, I still stick around to see What happens next. How do I know My youth is all spent My Get Up and Go Has got up and went, But in spite of it all I'm able to grin Think of the places My Get Up has been.
  • I get up each morning Dust off my wits, Open the paper, Read the obit's, If I'm not there, I know I'm not dead, So I eat a good breakfast And go back to bed! How do I know My youth is all spent My Get Up and Go Has got up and went, But in spite of it all I'm able to grin Think of the places My Get Up has been.
  • @RayNDeere I believe you are right I am sure the man stands in terrific health. We are fortunate to have his recordings as well as his persona recorded forever. Imagine that were true of Beethoven, Bach and Mozart?

  • @Ascaidh 91 years old and probably in better health (physically and mentally) than many half his age. I'm just glad he lived in an era with radio and television where the songs he sing are recorded and his thoughts and words are recorded for those who will be here long after we are not.

  • @RayNDeere I have recently read that he had quite a battle with McCarthy. I've also read that McCarthy wound up in the nut house. Pete Seegers music will live long. By the way Pete Seeger is sane. :)

  • Wonderful! The lyrics made me laugh and smile!!!

  • This kind of music sadly to say has got up and went but to me it will always stay for this was true music!!!
