Gungrave - Part 1 (Slaughter House)

More PS2 gaming, we're going down a more arcadey route here with the underrated Gungrave. Gungrave is awesomely stylish and gorgeous and if you know how to play it, very, very fun. It's very easy to get to grips with, as you get to shoot up just about anything while looking absolutely cool, but balancing out all the areas in which are rewarded in can be a quite challenge. Regardless, it is a very short game with not much replay value, but the sheer thrill of its fast, quick-burst gameplay is always satisfying to me.

The game has a lot of flair, featuring designs by Yasuhiro Nightow of Trigun fame, with various other contributions from artists bringing the game to life, and even has a soundtrack by Tsuneo Imahori, who was responsible for the music in Cowboy Bebop. His soundtrack is some truly excellent stuff, though it's a little obscured by all the heavy amounts of gunfire in the game, it really sets the mood.

anyone knows the song that plays in-between the game stage ?(where we can save, talk to Dr. T and Mika) and plays in the ending sequence of the game.

I really liked this game. I was glad to see them make an anime from it. Good anime too. The elevator scene in both is really good.

Gungrave Overdose had the sound effects way too loud. Sounded like someone banging pots. Literally. But it also had Roket Billy Red Cadillac.

Overdose is good, but it's way too punishing for me, I prefer this one because it manages to be more satisfying while playing in a simpler manner. I think the European version of Overdose has the Japanese method of unlocking all the bonus content, which is ridiculously tedious and is why I often get frustrated when I unlock almost nothing after putting hours into it.
