So you're around 13 or so? Your parents don't suck, they're protective of you because that's what parents do. My dad was the same. I started going to conventions at 16. I didn't get to go alone until I was 20. But cheer up! There are conventions in Houston! Go to Oni-con and Anime Matsuri are there!
