I read that TIME article last week and, like you, am baffled at how much inhumanity can be ignored on their own people. Yet something like South Park brings thousands of islamic activists to arms with threats to innocent people in retaliation.

Seems the world in general cont. to lose focus on what's important and many religions are being tarnished by activists who use written beliefs out of context to excuse acts of violence or doing other things the majority of said religion would be against.

One of the biggest problems with Islam are the state-printed versions of the Qur'an. Islam isn't a bad religion; it's just very strict and "old world". In general, most religions need to evolve, and Islam is one of them (though, so is Christianity and Judaism). All religions have fanatics, whether they be suicide bombers blowing up buses, or Christians leaving nail-bombs outside of abortion clinics. I judge the individual, not the group. Great video! Everyone has the right to an opinion!

@NostalgiaKing Thanks for the thoughtful comment. You are correct, most muslims are good people, but the number of fanatics in their religion is exponentially far greater than any other on earth. And it becomes political moreso than religious because it seeks the conquering of other cultures, i.e. western, by killing their enemies.

The argument on what is the right thing to do cuts both ways here.

The Park51 developers can just as easily turn around and say to their opponents --> "Just because you CAN protest against this project does not mean that you HAVE to".

What does this line of argument prove?... Absolutely nothing really since people's moral values would to a large extent be shaped and defined by their religious beliefs and so one side should not try to impose their own moral values on the other in this dispute.

@hamba2han i guess the unsaid portion of that point was that Imam Rauf said the reason to build on ground zero was to foster understanding and tolerance, yet he wont even sit down with the local government to discuss the location. It's Obvious that the only understanding he intends is for us to understand that we are being conquered.

i never thought that it was a good idea..i think it should be a memorial place for those who have perished in the 9/11 attack..if a mosque were to built there, i its a total disrespect and insult for those who have perished and those who have lost their love ones from that 9/11 incident..go and find somewhere else to build ur mosque!!
