Aired: December 30, 2011. NBC Nightly News. Ayman Mohyeldin reporting. Nine months into the Syrian uprising, hundreds of thousands of Syrians took to the streets today and dozens were killed protesting the regime of Syrian dictator Bashar Al Assad, who shows no signs of backing down. In this year of the Arab Spring, a wave of change has toppled Ben Ali of Tunisia, Hosni Mubarak of Egypt, and Muammar Gaddafi of Libya. But president Bashar al Assad of Syria continues to cling to power, as the revolution against him grows bigger and more violent by the day.
