press HQ for High Quality! New Footage @ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RFISP_PrhFo This is enhanced full frame footage that was used as a closeup in my other videos of Bryant's Car on August 31,2009 9.45pm. Its source was from a news camera pointed at a video monitor, so it could be stabilized more later. There seems to be streaks on the top of the security lens which diffracts the oncoming headlights.

The orange construction sign indicates a lane closure in the next block. Thru traffic was diverted to the curb lane behind the sign. Bryant and Sheppard seem to be in the center/left turn lane, and oncoming headlights seem to show why Sheppard was waiting.

Colour correction enhancement, to raise colours near black to visible and some hue adjustment to get the colours truer. I was hoping to see the hair colour of the passenger since she has been reported as a blonde woman (Bryant's wife has had brunette hair). I also ran a de-interlace filter to compensate for jagged artifacts in the source footage.

** Media and others, please post the exact locations of these security cameras, especially the black and white footage in the other videos.

I offer my personal respects and condolences to the families and loved ones of both Mr. Bryant and Mr. Sheppard whose lives have been affected by the brutality of this incident.

*** This footage is unaltered except: re-sizing / cropping to fit, brightness contrast adjustment for clarity and unavoidable artifacts from the video compression algorithms used on the source footages and youtube publishing.

*** Annotations are to point out details mentioned in news stories and from people familiar with the location. Interpretations of the video footage should be taken as description of an opinion and not fact.

  • "I interpet the movement as a powerslide from hard acceleration"

I've never seen the rear wheels drift under hard acceleration on a front wheel drive car.

Especially not a 3700 lb, FWD, 4 cylinder car that pulls 0-60 in about 7 seconds.

  • Valid point, annotations ammended accordingly.

What model SAAB is in the videos?

    Does anyone know?

However, FWD cars can also "crawl" sideways when the wheel is turned and the gas is put on, the front wheels act like a corksrew, causing lateral movement if there is oversteer.

  • A metric conversion:

    3700 lb = 1678 kg

    60 mph = 96 km/h

(which is the speed estimate of the construction worker eyewitness)

SAAB's all come with a turbo charger, making them very sporty. There are both 4 and 6 cylinder models.

  • A memorial fund for the children of Darcy Allan Sheppard has been arranged by The Toronto Bike Messenger Association ( TOBMA com ) via paypal at their website or at any TD Canada Trust Branch in the name of Darcy Allan Sheppard and/or the account number 06906676860

A memorial fundraiser will be held Saturday, September 26th 2009 at Sneaky Dee's 431 College Street (College and Bathurst) Doors open at 9pm $10.00 or pay what you can.

  • Your contributions no matter how small will add up. If there was even one dollar for every video hit.... I will be making a donation myself and challenge you to do the same.

  • I think I know where this was taken. If you check out the youtube video by superbencher called Bryant Cyclist Accident, that's the spot, a pedestrian crossing between Avenue and Bay. The markings on the sidewalk, where it's been torn up and filled in with asphalt are similar. Also the person on the top right is standing where there should be a right turn corner if they were at an intersection. He would have been driving straight for the eastbound lanes at this point. Bike lane in your vid = curb

  • Thank you, I have adjusted the "curb" annotation to reflect that input.

  • He can't plead insanity because he knew exactly what he was doing by driving around the corner out of sight of witnesses. He could have been getting rid of evidence, including concealing the identity of his passenger. That isn't insanity, that's calculated. Plus, he knew his rights about the breathalyzer and about contacting the lawyer and the PR firm. No insanity there.

  • Nope. He can't say he hit Darcy or didn't know he was hanging on because he was drunk. Also, to drive that car along the curb without crashing it, while aiming Darcy into trees, hydrant and mailbox shows that Bryant was in full control of his vehicle. What we have here is road rage, but having a history of anger issues isn't a defense for murder. If anything, it shows the guy was a ticking time bomb and should be put away.

  • At the same time all six witnesses who claimed encounters with Sheppard drove away in a safe manner. Just an observation regardless of relevance. No erratic driving like Bryant who is experienced lawyer, politician, and likely trained to handle tough situations.

Strange the charges were dropped and no more charges were laid. Strange they are still not reinstated by the Crown and AG. Willful blindness? Everyone should be concerned.

  • @DeadlyMACD at the end of the day, the decision that led to death was Darcy's. He grabbed a moving car. By all eyewitness accounts, he was grabbing at the driver and the steering wheel. Now, I'm all for justice for victims of crime, but look at the facts: a drunk, belligerent cyclist (with a history of being drunk and belligerent), grabs onto a car in motion, attacking the driver. Sorry, but he is dead because he had rage issues. Period.
