I heard him play this live in 1986 in Indiana. In this performance, he ends much more impatiently. Just an observation, not a critique. The technique is unfailing and unmatched, as always. Brings back nice memories.

Why are we even critiquing these guys? Come on @Chrisdvc26 Rostropovich not appealing tone? And all the other people who are constantly judging...just listen and enjoy the music. Play like Rostropovich and Starker and then talk.

I don't understand why people cannot just appreciate Mr. Starker. He is a fantastic cellist, as well as Rostropovich. There is a reason why they are famous and we are commenting. Besides, who are we to judge these people?
