Craig Yerkes, along with "The Grams" bandmates,Chuck Schiele & Elise Ohki, penned this instrumental gem. The short out of tempo chord sequence theme, at the beginning and the end,is an added motif I put in as a moment of pause in Craig's memory....this is one of a few cover tribute songs I perform live, along with my own compositions.

  • This is great! I was lucky enough to play bass with The Grams, including the album track of this tune. So lucky to witness that song come together and get to perform it with Craig and Elise, and Chuck many times (but never enough). So glad to discover your version of this. If you didn't know, the song was a tribute to Elise's late mother.

  • Wow,great stuff, once again,a very solid performance by you and the others on a great instrumental track, and thanks for the added info as well, and the positive feedback on my arrangement,Wayne.

  • As far as the seven beat measures from the B section onward,I capture those initially and then intentionally shift into 4/4 quarter note triplet phrases in combination with rubato phrases throughout, one of the advantages of solo guitar arrangements. As a five piece band ensemble, the seven feel is powerful, but I felt it was coming out more rhythmically stilted as a solo piece all the way through. Even on the 4/4 "A" section I play with the timing a bit for more overall expression. Thanks again!

  • Thanks Clay, yes,a great tune, played well by all on the original version. A big challenge pulling together all the different melodic and harmonic elements in the varying registers, but was very pleased with the outcome.

  • Very happy to covering this amazing song. Love your arrangement, but you might want to try it in 7/8. That was the magic of the original that I loved.
