Edward Joseph Collins: Concerto No. 1 in E flat major, for piano & orchestra, movement 1. Molto moderato, quasi adagio - Allegro non troppo
Marin Alsop / Royal Scottish National Orchestra / William Wolfram, piano
Edward Joseph Collins is a mysteriously neglected composer of American romantic music -- neglected maybe because the music world had moved on to more experimental sounds at the time he was composing. Still his music delivers many rewards to the open minded listener. I especially enjoy the rousing 3rd movement of this concerto.
I have to laugh at the movement title here. So many composers try to impose playing instructions within their piece titles. I find that a little pretentious. Just call it "Movement 1" or something and be done with it.
Bravo! Cheers from Brazil
