Ode to Joy with Microstock Photos

Ode to Joy, by Michael Krum. Ode to Joy, a poem which celebrates the ideal unity and brotherhood of all mankind is originally called "An die Freude" in German. It was written by German poet, playwright and historian Friedrich Schiller in 1785. Ludwig van Beethoven put the most famous musical setting to the poem with his Symphony No. 9, which he finished composing when he was already completely deaf. The Council of Europe later on adopted Beethoven´s Ninth Symphony to represent Europe as a whole, making it the anthem of European Union.
