In Australia we have the 'Good Samaritan Act' which gives protection to people, irrespective of their qualifications or lack thereof that try to help others that have been injured or are trapped in a car accident or disaster, from being sued, as long as whatever they do cannot be attributed to criminal negligence. It's one of the very few laws that makes sense. It amazes me that the US and Canada do not have similar legislation. How many may have been saved a needless death?

umm to my knowledge certified/licensed ems professionals are not required to help at a scene if first one to come upon that is actually trained. but if said individual is driving a company vehicle or is being paid at the time of this incident is required to stop, but we are all required to work under our scope of practice written by our medical director that we serve under

For those of you who have never actually done this type of work. You don't know your ass from first base if you're playing armchair medic. Piss off, shut up or go join EMS and make a real difference.

I was on GFD-EMS fo 15 years and even recognize the faces of many personnel on scene. Keep 'em coming! I miss this job but I'm retired. Toughest job you'll ever love and you can't get enough of it.

Something else about seatbelts: This happened to me. I once "brushed-up" against one of those concrete freeway dividers. The sudden jolt wanted to throw me toward the passenger side of my vehicle. If I hadn't been wearing my seat belt AND shoulder harness, I'd have still been gripping the wheel as I was thrown sideways from my seat. I'm sure this would have resulted in my turning the wheels enough to send my car into adjacent lanes of traffic. I was able to remain IN my seat & regain control.

@azurealien Only if there is no first responder present (police, fire, paramedics) then the good samaritan law is enacted, otherwise if there are emergency workers are on the scene you should not interfere with them.

First thought...why record this? Second...why not help...third...in the UK it doesn't matter so much about liability. Trained or not, help if you can, hence why most cars come with a first aid kit. I can't for the Americans here, but if you can help, do so. That said, you are just gonna get in the way if the emergency services are there. But even if you just speak to the victim it may help to let them know they are not alone (yes, even if they are unresponsive, you don't know if they can h

@hollydaytimetv It's not even as much of a legal issue as it is of a moral issue. Why would you not help if needed?
cool3929 before you open your trap get educated. I as a private citizen would be held liable due to the fact all my training has expired. There were emergency workers on scene so it was not my responsibility or duty to assist. I am not an emergency worker hence I CAN NOT TOUCH THE VICTIMS! Like I said, keep your mouth shut unless you know what your talking about
