Somewhere between Anchorage and Homer Alaska, the truck hit a pothole and blew out a tire. Thinking quickly, maybe a little too quickly, our driver Wes hitched a ride to the next town to try to find help or at the very least cell phone service to place a call, leaving the band stuck on the side of the road with nothing more than some trailmix and a guitar. What more could you ever need!
The band was rescued a few hours later just before this whole situation went from funny to scary and made it to the show in Homer about 15 minutes after it was scheduled to start. The audience didn't seem to mind and other than being thoroughly cold, the band was none the worse for wear.
"The wind is blowing cross the mountain..."
Here's to Dawn, our savior, to Wes, our enthusiastic driver, and to the wonderful people of Girdwood and Homer who took really great care of us.
There has to be a new song somewhere in this. The snowy mountain view was actually delightful. Thanks for sharing your adventure with us!
