Sad, but it tells me she was a patriot.If she was an active leftist she could have been called

to name "names"at the McCarthy hearings as other actors were.As a child actor at a union

meeting in 1952 we were asked to sign a declaration swearing we were not communists.

When I asked what a communist was,I was told being only 11 , not to sign it.And this was

in Canada!The more I learn about Gene's life,the more I love that lady.Thanks for the info.

@northernoir I am reminded of a passage from Gene Autobiography when, during one of Genes periods of illness, Gene thought the communists where coming to take Daria, the making this movie may have had a subliminal effect on Genes mind.
