You're right about that -- many, many people's vocabularies are being greatly simplified. For example, 'awesome' has become the all-purpose positive adjective, like 'doubleplusgood' in Nineteen Eighty-Four.

Really makes you wonder where Orwells insight really came from since most of what he wrote has and is coming true. Perhaps Orwell was suppose to write another book of the "bible" ? An addition to the book of Revelation ? Far fetched ? Probably.

@NyloStar Although Orwell lambasted any sort of rigid, rabid adherence to an ideology, nation or religion and wrote a critical essay on nationalism and other blind followings to ideologies, "1984" in particular is an attack on both the Communist regime of Stalin and the various Fascist and authoritarian regimes that had sprung up all over the world, Imperial Japan, Fascist Italy and Nazi Germany especially.
