The death of Chilean dictator Augusto Pinochet left many unanswered questions. Number one for me: why does he still have supporters? Every Chilean citizen should be required to read Naomi Klein's book "The Shock Doctrine".

  • Strange but quite possibly true. I was quite surprised by the support Pinochet still enjoyed at the time of his death. You and other supporters apparently do not know the back story of how and why he came to power. Or maybe you DO know it and support those tactics and goals anyway. That would be sad.

Look to Chicago. You won't like what you find.

LOL dumbass, Castro executed 8 thousands Batisita murderers who slaughtered 20 000!

  • It shouldn't surprise anyone that Pinochet was revered among so many of his people. Like Argentina and other S. American countries thousands of Nazi war criminals were warmly welcomed into these lands and their influence is still alive today.

  • thanks Pinochet word anti communist hero, he save chileans froma civil war and from a marxist dictatorship

  • History will absolve Pinochet. He was a great leader. There is an old saying: "To make an omlet, you've gotta crack a few eggs."

  • I've never been to Chicago, I've only seen it on a map. What is there not to like about it?

  • if more than a half of chilean support pinochet ¿why he lost in 1989?

PD: He was a fucking facist dictator like hitler. Thank's god he died

  • Pinochet's legacy lives in our hearts and minds. Around half of Chile supports Pinochet and its for a reason.

  • Good dive me my life, Pinochet my freedom, you afre a national and international leader and hero

  • he had to act because chile with allende we were in a anarchy, terrorist groups, allende wantes a comunist state, the suprime court and the congress told to allende he was acting ilegaly, the people wanted to stop allende, so that's why armed forces had to act, in fact is the softest military goverment of all the world, 3100 dead people v/s 36.000 of cuba, etc. Pinochet took chile un povery and he left it with a strong economy
