The only film of Annette Hanshaw .Hugely popular jazz singer during the late 1920's and early 1930's.
She was one of those women who was beautiful by just being herself.
A very cool lady who epitomises the age of glamour perfectly.
There has been recently revived interest in Annette with the animated film Sita sings the Blues, which features performances by Hanshaw.

  • AHHHHHH!!!! She is my most favorite singer!!

  • It's funny how a lot of people take Annette Hanshaw for a small town country girl. As a matter of fact, she was a life long New Yorker. She was born in New York, lived her whole life in New York and died in New York. She does look & sound like a small town girl, and Annette Hanshaw sounds like a small town name, but she was really a New Yorker.

  • how do yall even get a hold of this thanks for posting

  • Annette Hanshaw was a amazing singer, she proved she could sing in many different styles, although she quit in her early 20's. really she would have been in movies, if she hadn't quit. Annette was a worthy rival towards Ruth Etting, according to hardcore Hanshaw Fans. I personally like her Helen Kane impressions.

  • I probably watched this 6 times in a row singing along until I thought of the best idea ever..Buying it om Itunes! :)

  • So talented and pretty! :)))

  • WOW!!! What a sweetheart she was,terrific voice,and a very sexy lady.

  • Thanks so much Glamourdaze. I only heard her for the first time on Russell Davies' Radio 2 programme the other day. She sang "Lover Come Back To Me" and it knocked me for six! The way she bends those notes when she sings is so bluesy. And the musicians accompanying her were the cream. She is a real find. I'd never heard of her before now. and yet, she appears in my encyclopedia of Jazz and i never knew...Thanks for letting me see her sing.

  • It always interests me that her look is so contemporary. Hers is a very American face typical of small town or country girls of her era, and those girls still look pretty much the same today.

  • I have to wash my pants. Never happens with beyonce.
