In 1996, Al Roker started being a Regular on the Today Show after being a fill in for Willard Scott.

Al Roker left WNBC in New York for the Weather in 2001, but he's still currently doing the Weather for the "Today" show as well as The Weather Channel called "Wake Up with Al"

Dean Shepherd also worked with many business shows on TV, including CNBC, FNN, & at Bloomberg. He also worked for the Nightly Business Report in the mid 80's.

No, though he was basically on his way out in '98. He only did live at five then, and as I recall, he was frequently absent. He left in 2001 when Janice Huff took over on Live at Five.
