Demonstrators dance to music during the Funk the War 8 anti-war protest. As you can see, it was quite a festive and fun march!

Funk the War 8, held on October 7, 2009, was part of a series of anti-war demonstrations organized by the Washington DC chapter of Students for a Democratic Society (SDS). As with previous Funk the War demonstrations, the march route took demonstrators to the offices of a number of alleged war profiteers. Unlike most Funk the War demonstrations, however, this demonstration focused specifically on ending the war in Afghanistan, rather than the Iraq War.

  • WHAT IS THIS SONG? <3

Funk the war, bring it home!

  • Unfortunately, I have no idea what this song is...

  • what is the guy in the paint respirator protesting?

  • Same thing as everyone else. There were a few bandannas in the crowd, but most didn't mask up for this one, even those who normally mask up for black blocs and such. The respirator guy, though, really stuck out, and I think most thought it was a tad extreme for what was to be a fairly calm, fun demonstration.
