The testimonies of returned LDS missionaries can be inspiring, especially if you're questioning the LDS Church after returning from a mission and wondering if you're the only RM who's testimony isn't as strong as it used to be. Missions seem like a particularly common time for young men and women to begin seriously scrutinizing the history and teachings of the LDS Church. Not surprisingly, many young men and young women are disturbed by what their research uncovers.
Regardless of what your doubts about the church are and regardless of what you eventually decide to do with your doubts, it's important for you to know that thousands of people have been through what you're going through. (Numerous web sites, in fact, host discussions by questioning Mormons and former Mormons about Mormon Doctrine and lifestyles.) Some people, like the New Order Mormons, find a way to stay in the church even though they don't believe many of its teachings. Others, like Post-Mormons and Ex-Mormons make the difficult transition (difficult for one's social life, difficult for one's family life, difficult for one's identity and psychological life) of leaving behind the religion they long cherished but can no longer believe in.
