More of Rayonier 2-6-6-2T 110 during its second week of service on the Black Hills Central (this was its eighth day pulling the "1880 Train," according to my notes). We see the locomotive at the shop being steamed up early in the morning, and then catch it out on the line at all of the best photo locations. The weather has improved from the previous day, and the sun comes out in the afternoon. We also see No. 110 at the new Keystone depot, which had recently been built and completed.

  • @Gunny761 Ah, that explains it.

Too bad we don't have mallet locomotives in normal gauge here in Sweden. Mallets are impressive.

  • @spajdude What WhyAyeMann said, but a couple of other things as well. Trains at most museums don't typically go faster than 15MPH for safety (and because you don't need so much track to get a decent ride). Besides, 110 is a former logging engine, which means it was built for hauling ability and stability over bad track rather than speed.

  • @spajdude super steep grades.

  • What's the deal with them going over public road crossings without a headlight burning? Looks like they're just asking for trouble, to me...

Great video, by the way! <:^D

  • Cool, but why the low speed?

  • Great video!
