How do you learn how to play the whistle? I'm going to get an Oak D, and a Dixon D. Do all whistles have the same notes no matter what kind? And did you use books to learn? Thanks.

I first learned from sheet music, like on thesession . org. They have sheet music for hundreds of tunes there. I played violin previously so I could figure out the notes. But then I started learning by ear. That's a lot more fun and I think you "get" the song better. All D whistles have the same notes, if it's in a different key the notes are different but you can still use the same fingerings, the song will just be in a different key. Good luck in your playing, let me know if you post any vids!

It's a Dixon one-piece polymer in D. Thanks for commenting!

That sounded really good. I always make more mistakes when I know the cameras on.

Thanks, I know me too, sometimes I can be so nervous in front of the camera. In this one I wasn't planning on showing it, so it's much more relaxed.
