Check the youtube footage - people stand around in disbelief, the crowd slowly grows, the young men start gathering things to throw, bricks bounce off police helmets and still they dont respond. It dawns on some of the crowd that law and order has been withdrawn for the night. Looting starts approx 3 hours after 1st police car fired. Check out the looting at JDs - its the next day in daylight!!! where are the police?????

Tottenham is an area where the policing is very repressive and there are deep local resentments - perfect place to provoke angry response to police violence. Having shot someone then publicly beaten a 15 year old girl, the police stood by and watched for HOURS as locals trashed 2 police cars that had been strangely left unattended in the road.

we get upset when the police kill people more than a teenager stabbing another...

because we expect a higher level of behavior and control from police than we do from random thugs in the street...

I'm guessing u guys are supporting the "protest" and I can sorta see where your comming from, but your destroying your fucking city. I live in Australia and police will sometimes make bad decisions like how they abused this girl, it's only human. but I don't understand why you's have to loot and destroy your city over it??

the police are there to protect us and when the police attack a 15 year old protester in front of 300 protesters for no reason they must expect the people to react if it was my sister they attacked i would rip the polices head off or at least peform a citizen arrest
