Round my way in the '70s you were either Essex or Cassidy. You couldn't be both - a bit like City or United. Essex always won in my house.

The show 'Top of the Pops' was a British pop music show from the 1960s to the 1990s.. however, each video shows the AMERICAN chart position the record got to!
This song by David Essex, for example was a UK No.1 for several weeks in late 1975..NOT #56 as the header says here!
