The Brown County Opera Project: Carmen

On Thursday, April 24, 2008, students from Helmsburg Elementary School participated in a production of Georges Bizet's opera, Carmen.
Side by side with professional performers from the Indianapolis Opera Young Artist Ensemble and Dance Kaleidoscope, children sang, danced and delivered dialogue in front of crowded audiences in the Brown County High School Auditorium.
Students began working on the project months in advance, not only participating in the performance end of the project, but in creating sets and costumes, writing and sending out press releases, designing and creating advertisements, ushering and shadowing stage technicians.
