Sonny was a great jokster. I loved he and Cher's nose jokes.His serious face in the 60's, His laughter in the 70's His father face thereafter, Sonny thank you for all your phases and sharing them with us.

A father who could mangle a Stevie Wonder song on national TV proves that he loved his child back in the day. Had he lived you can't help but wonder if he still would. Honestly I think he would. Cher would have helped him kiss a tree at the bottom of a ski slope if he dared to disrespect Chazz.

i swear to god if they did this live n b4 he started singing someone came out saying hold up in the year 2011 chasity will change her name to chaz and will have an operation 2 make her look like HIM then they put up a huge picture of chaz on the screen n bet sonny would upchuck al over the place and no one in the crowed would be pleased or unaffected or accepting of the future reality check n just to throw salt on open wounds da guy say a tree will prevent u from having a say about it sonny

@maigrey1967 I don't think he did choose politics over his child. I think Chaz (then Chastity) did. Sonny accepted that she was gay and loved her completely. Sonny was a Republican who voted against gay marriage for his own reasons. He never disowned his daughter, but Chas was so angry about the way he voted that she stopped talking to him. If you view the vid "Chastity Bono 1996 Parts 1 and 2" you can see how angry she was at him. And then he was killed. You're right - life is too short.

I read Chaz' book and it was very sensitively written. If this is what he had to do to be happy, then I wish him all the best. But I have to be honest - part of me is glad that Sonny isn't alive to see his little girl become a man. Although I'm sure he would have continued to love his child, emotionally I think it would have killed him. Cher is trying her best, but I think it's killing her too. Sonny was hilarious and talented. He sure had persistence. May he rest in peace.
