the noise isn't as bad as that of a fire alarm THOSE are ear peircing

Most likely, every time you cruise you will be in a different location/ship so attending the muster drill will familiarise you with your new emergency procedures. And each ship is equipped with different life saving equipment, so it is important to know what to do.

That's right. Our lifeboat drill when we went on the Carnival Victory this past summer was at 4:30 PM, a half-hour before leaving port. A 5 AM drill like you mentioned might either be one of those crew-only drills, or someone was testing the alarms.

If u have already done one cruise on any line u should be excussed from doing a muster drill since the indusrty has a standard proceddure. they are annoying as hell and the cruise staff whine if u are like an inch of the line. ugggg i hate muster drills!!!!
