500cc 1991 Suzuka Final Lap

Schwantz, Doohan, Rainey and Kocinski all battling for glory at the end of yet another great GP at the Suzuka circuit, I must admit, I'm really starting to miss it, and Motegi is a mediocre circuit at best.

Classic 500 racing at its best.

There is absolutely NO doubt that those 500cc 2 strokes required far more skill to ride than today's MotoGP bikes with TC. Pushing the limit on those 500's was far more likely to result in a sudden and very painful high side, and how those riders dealt with the fear of that largely determined how fast they were. There is much less chance of a crash or injury on the current TC-tamed bikes, and thus a major fear component is eliminated.

I agree with Scott Gorham, TC in racing is a joke. If racing was about being as fast as possible surely the top class would be run what you brung with no limits to power, mimimum weights, control tyres etc. Surely racing should be a balance between rider skill & manufacuturer exellence? I'd rather watch a grid of excellent racers on a grid of shit bikes over todays MotoGP. Speed does not always equal entertainment nor display pure talant. Perhaps you should think before you write something.

yeah, tc is joke on liter bike with 250 hp, able to do 350 kmh, thats just like your average liter bike right? and racing isnt about how hard is to ride a bike, its about geting around the track...as fast as possible. and believe me tc makes lap times much quicker. think before you say something, or in that case write anything.

No not me, Schantz is, hes been kicked out of COTA, he just wanted money for doing fuck all, he designed the circuit? really??? he couldnt organise a piss up in a brewery, as for Schwantz doing anything good for bike racing, youve got more chance of getting a wank off the pope, end of story.....
