  • I know you guys are all gung-ho on the 'Blackbox' name, but wouldn't it be more stable in regards to heat absorption from sunlight to make it white? Granted the customer could always paint over it, but I imagine this would decrease the overall heat load.

  • done...

  • the video is cool, but what about the computers inside the black box?

it looks like the racks were empty in the video.

    just wondering.

  • In fact the racks were full of computers, most of which kept running. The reason it might appear that the racks are empty is that they are actuallly sideways inside the blackbox. for a visual layout please see our virtual tour.

  • Even though this was 10 months ago, the ZFS file system is used standard on blackbox.

  • Regarding heat absorption: When shipping containers, or other structures are painted with Ceramic Insulation coatings they reflect virtually all heat. ...even if painted black. The coatings are paper thin and very inexpensive. The ISBU website has more information regarding shipping containers and these Ceramic paints and coatings.

  • this is just what I need for a school project.

I gonna show it 2 my two friends for our project on earthquakes

  • Impressive ! which FS is used ? EXT3, Reiser, ZFS ?

  • cool

  • I use to do environmental testing for a main frame company about 7 years ago. Just like this, but on a much smaller scale. If you want to do hot and cold thermal cycles, tail to the company called BEMCO. That's what we used.
