I trained with Sensei Barker, he would not argue about feet position or criticize any other aspects of the technics, but just encouraged people to self development and believe in the power of Aikido, there are always people who are better than others but it is not what Aikido is all about! Aikidokas should not criticize each other but be supportive....gosh
Hello, my name is Mark and I've been practicing Aiki Toho Iai for 15 yrs and have a Sandan in Nishio Aikido and Aiki Toho Iai.
I'm sorry to say this but his feet positions are all wrong.
He constantly has them pointing outwards, when in fact they should be pointed forward and slightly inward so that if lines were drawn out from them they would eventually cross each other.
Go look at all the videos of Nishio Sensei on Youtube and look at his feet when he does his Iaido.
i thought lai was about sheating your sword immediatly after 1 slash.

Has he been studying Aiki Toho Iai for 30+ years?
I doubt it.
Ask him how long he has been studying Aiki Toho Iai then get back to me.
Just because he has been studying martial arts for 30+ years doesn't automatically make him an expert in Aiki Toho Iai.

Paul Sensei is a 6th dan and has been studying for 30+ years. I think he knows what he's doing.
