Check and Double Check is a 1930 comedy based on the then-popular Amos 'n' Andy radio show. Freeman Gosden was Amos and Charles Correll was Andy Brown. -WARNING-
The characters of the program were portrayed as blacks but were in fact entirely voiced by whites. Rather than hire black actors to imitate exaggerated stereotypes, Gosden and Correll performed the roles in blackface.
Duke Ellington's band were part of the film, but two members were too light and wore makeup to appear darker.
