Hey guys,

Today we are looking at how to construct a major scale.
In this example we are using tones and semitones.

The order of tones and semitones is:

Tone Tone Semitone Tone Tone Tone Semitone Or T T S T T T S

For example the following notes make up the C major scale.
C D E F G A B C

There is a tone between C & D,
a tone between D & E,
a semitone between E & F
a tone between F & G
a tone between G & A
a tone between A & B
and a semitone between B & C

In the next few video's we'll be looking at changing the major scale into other types of scales and modes. Using scale degree numbers.

  • These videos are awesome dude, you deserve so much more views. Especially helpful to a guy like me who can't really afford lessons. Are you studying music by any chance? It's something I want to pursue in the future but I'm unsure If I can gather all of the necessary skills by then, since by the earliest that I can apply I would have been playing for only about 4 years.

I am trying hard though, and thanks to your videos I'm sure I'll learn heaps more :)

  • @HaistaPaska92 you're very welcome mate!
