Live broadcast Jelly Roll Morton NCB Radio 14th July 1940. Shortly after this Jelly Roll was stabbed during a fracas at a performance and died soon after due to poor treatment. He was 51.

If you will permit a mild correction; Morton was stabbed in a fight in Washington D.C. in 1938 at about the time the Alan Lomax oral histories were recorded at the Library of Congress, being two years before this NBC Chamber Society of Lower Basin Street broadcast. This would of course be the last recording of Jelly Roll Morton before his death in 1941.
