I'm Burning Up For You Series[Chapter One, Part One]

I sat at the table, eating some chips and reading a magazine.
"Hey," Nick said and I jumped.
"Oh hey Nick, I didn't here you come in. Whats up?" I asked.
"Nothing." He said quietly. I could tell something was wrong from his voice. We've known each other that long that I can tell even without looking at him when something is wrong. We've been friends for about 10 years. I love him to death! I have no idea what I would do without Nicholas Jonas! No, I don't like him like that....We're just you know friends! At least I hope, I dont.......
"Whats wrong Nick?"
"Nothing, what makes you assume somethings wrong."
"Nicholas Jerry Jonas, I've known you for how long? I know when somethings wrong."
"Why do you use my full name sometimes and my nickname other times?" He asked laughing."
"Haha, NICK name. Because I can, don't change the subject."
Just then my mom came in.
"Hey you two! What are you doing?" She asked setting down her purse on the table.
"Oh just talking, you know like we usually do." I said.
"How are you Mrs Rayner?" Nick asked.
"I'm fantastic, I had a good day at work."
"Thats cool."
"Yea, hows the musicals going?"
"Well I've got most of the scenes down and everything. So its pretty good."
"Thats good." She said.
She turned off the water and grabbed her purse again.
"I should go to the store, We don't have very much food."
"Okay, Mom Love you." I said.
"Love you too hun, Bye." She said and walked out the door.
I went back to reading my magazine. Nick just stared at me. I had no idea what he was thinking, sometimes I just wish I could read that boys mind! It would be so much easier. Hes so stubborn sometimes that I can't ever get him to tell me why hes mad, angry or sad.
"You wanna go get something from Dairy Queen and walk around the park?" He asked.
"Sure." I said. We walked to Dairy Queen and to the park. Nothing exciting really happened. It was actually really quiet. Until he finally said something that I would have never expected on that day.
"Maddie. Uh- what-........how,- What would you do if I had to move." Just by saying that many, many things where rushing through out my mind.
"Are you moving?" I asked.
He sat down. "Answer my question first." He said looking up at me.
"I.....I don't know Nick! I've never thought about it, I never though I'd even have to live without you."
He sighed and put his head down.
"Now-now answer my question."
He nodded his head without saying a word. My heart felt like it was breaking.
"Why?" Was all i could say.
"Because, well the other day when I was getting my haircut, I was singing. And someone talked to my mom about..."
I interrupted him. "Getting a record deal."
"Yes."
I sighed and sat down.
"But i was thinking you know, you could ask your mom if you can move it."
"You know she will never go for that Nick."
"Yea but its worth a try."
I nodded my head.
"What will I do without you Nick. I'll miss you so much, what if I can't move with you. What will happen?" Words just came spitting out of my mouth.
"We will keep in contact. I promise, I will call you ever single day of the week. Every chance I can get."
I started crying. I couldn't believe he was moving. Was this just a bad dream or was he for real. I closed my eyes just wishing he wasn't serious. He held me in his arms. I felt safe in his arms. But, this was the moment when I knew I liked him more than a friend.
"Nick I-"
Sophia came walking up.
"What are you two doing?" She asked. I rolled my eyes. I disliked Sophia so much. She has a huge crush on Nick and would try to flaunt herself at him. And every single time he says something, she starts laughing. It will even be something that isn't funny! I mean what the heck is that about!
"Uh sitting here?" Nick said.
Sophia giggled like usual.
"It looks like you guys are doing more than sitting there, So anyways Nicky what are you doing tonight." I mumbled under my breath and rolled my eyes.
"Well me and Maddie are hanging out tonight."
She glared at me. "Oh, well bye." She said and walked off with her two dogs.
"Now what were you going to say." Nick asked. Ah no I don't want to tell him now. I almost got the courage to tell him, now I dont. I can't do it.
"Uh nothing."
"Come on tell me." He said.
"No Nick, it was nothing seriously." He grinned at me.
"Just tell me."
Oh gosh. I hate it when he does this. I can never help but tell him, what I don't want to tell him. I itched my head.
"Well Nick....We've known each other for a very long time, and I guess over time, I started liking you....a lot."
