A slight bug that is also an easy way to let the rest of a period go by is to circle around your own goal with the puck until you can manipulate the AI into your goalie.
After a bit of practice it's not too hard to do. Once you get the CPU running into your goalie, they continue doing it with no exception regardless of the difficulty they are set on.
