@leanneDCfan but in fairness, Richard save Sooty from Hit Entertainment, who was doing nothing with the character. Now Richard owns the brand, like Matthew Corbett and plans for a new tv series is on its way for early next year.

Personally, I think Richard could work well on his own and concentrate only on Sooty, Sweep, Sue with maybe the occassional Little Cousin Scampi. I was not a big fan of Sooty & Co (though I suppose the trademark for Sooty Show stayed with Thames) I do have high hopes. Even here Richard resembles and reacts like Matthew. Good for the kids, but great for the adults. I do hope Matthew will drop in every so often. It was great when he used to throw in odd bit of nostalga for the parents.

and in Series 6 of Sooty & Co (1998) they were a handful of episodes where Richard and Liana stared in the show while Matthew 'had to visit somewhere' in order for the audience to get use to them to make the hand over easy.

The key thing is Richard had no hand in writing Sooty Scripts apart from the Sooty's Magic video series. Sooty Heights kepts the traditional form the corbett family set up while when the series relaunch as 'Sooty' it simply didn't.

matthew said in a news article regreted selling it to HIT entertainment he said it was an animation-flop when hit entertainment had it. but thanks to richard he snapped up the rights of sooty and its in his own hands plus very good closer to the corbetts as you will ever get!

@cooljoemaz yeah Hit ruin good shows like this, Fireman Sam, Thomas and even their own production Bob The Builder by making it CGI if they turned Sooty CGI that would totally ruin things

@cooljoemaz yeah I agree but Richard could have written his own material like Matthew did, I have seen Sooty, Scampi, Sweep and Soo three different times once with Matthew in 1998 b4 he retired at Northampton Derngate, and Richard twice 1st time was 2004 Pontins holiday 2nd was Blackpool in 2008 or 2007, In my opinion no one can beat Matthew he was the best but Richard does a better job on stage than he (Richard) does on TV
