I have delt with laptop and desktop overheating problems. It is 99 out of 100 times the Thermal Paste that is causing the problem. This has been requested numerous times.

  • the right amount is no heat paste overhang on the processor.

  • @sasrob28 which this is the right amount.

  • Also, it doesn't matter how much Arctic Silver you put into the volume between the chip and the sink, UNLESS appearance counts. There is no detrimental effect to having a 5 lb. glob of Arctic Silver bulging out or smeared all over the place, in fact use a 30 lb blob... as long as it doesn't block the air used to cool the heat sink, it simply doesn't matter. If you disagree, how about not attacking me, but instead... carefully describing WHY you disagree.

  • @doceigen The reason for the attacks is you have so called Professionals thinking that they are the experts of building a PC. I am a professional and run a professional business. I have NEVER had a PC come back due to overheating. Obviously my method works. I have the numbers and time to back it up.

  • I still have the same tube of arctic Silver 5 compound I bought in 2000 for my first machine build, and I've built/repaired about 12 with the same tube, if that gives you any idea.

  • @jakthebomb so would you say about 2 grains of rice worth of thermal compound? Sorry if this seems trivial I'm just putting my first build together

  • @doceigen There, was that so hard to say?

  • @doceigen That's it? That's your response? Ha ha, WOW!

No denial on your part, eh?

If someone DID recognize me, it would make no difference in my employment. You should be making that very statement about yourself with the whole "it doesn't matter how much Arctic Silver you put into the volume between the chip and the sink" comment. Raytheon would have your head on a platter, so to speak.

  • @plplove Clean both surfaces, then apply a very small amount on each surface in one swoop with a razorblade. If you do that well, a very flat thin layer will settle quickly, looking like a painted coating. Then put the amount and in the fashion shown in the video above and bring the two surfaces together slowly and fasten the assembly together. The thin razored-on layers, will assure that the dab of compound shown in the video, flows smoothly, and fills the space more uniformly.

  • @sparky3489 I hope for your families' sake, that no one who has decision power over your continued employment, recognizes you, and your performance, on this thread.
