Gameplay from Twin Turbo V8 by Codemasters on the Amstrad (Schneider) CPC 464 8 bit vintage home computer. Retro Gaming.

This is not a review, walkthrough, playthrough, or demonstration of my playing ability.
It's more a case of me speaking my thoughts while playing the games, many for the first time, and most for the first time in a very long time... so it's all a little spontaneous and random.
Predictably, as I never practice before recording, I usually play very badly.

Given that I am playing many of these games for the first time, and everything I say is completely off the cuff, you probably shouldn't take what I say overly seriously. The opinions that I express are my feelings at the time, but it's entirely possible that they would be different if I were to take the time to get to grips with the game.

However, given that these videos are intended to show that "first time experience", I believe they have some validity or merit.

  • This looks like Lotus gone wrong and badly. Even the real Lotus AMSTRAD port looks better.

  • @wrestletube1 Yes, this game is well and truly broken.

  • I've played a few Codemasters games on the PlayStation, and I thought most of them were fucking boring. That Amstrad seems to be quite powerful for its time, even though this isn't one of the better games for it.

  • @Lachlant1984 I'm not a Codemasters fan myself, but even they should be able to do better than this, especially on the Amstrad, which is proving to be a very capable machine for it's age.

  • Ferrari F40!

  • This was a crap game actually - but Outrun was even worse!!!

  • @legogenius There must've been a lot of very disappointed kids back then ;)

  • @UKRetroGames

I bought Out Run on the day it arrived in my local WH Smiths shop and was bitterly disappointed when I got it home. However I stuck with it and I have to say that it has some good levels, some of which are fast or attractive. It became one of my most played games, so it turned out ok in the end. WEC Le Mans was an excellent racing game though on the CPC, along with maybe Nigel Mansell and a couple of others I forget the names of.

  • still not bad for it's age, and you are right, as often the screenshots on the package is from the best looking version. i find this misleading. luckilly to day we got the internet to check if the game is worth buying. but i gues you didn't play much for this (at least that's what i hope for you) lol.

  • @SteveBenway i remember those back in the day after school i would always get one once a week 48k spectrum FTW lol
