Champion Limerick fundraiser Tina O Gorman who is a mother of six and a grandmother of seven from Pineview Gardens, Moyross reached her one million fundraising mark this past Friday night after 34 years spent fundraising.
Tina broke the €1m barrier at the Annual Aspen Red Carpet Event, a fundraiser for Parkinson's at The Pery Hotel. It was an amazing night featuring entertainment from Leanne Moore and drag sensation Celine and almost 5,000 Euro was raised for the charity. Tina was overcome with joy, as all her loved ones were present to share her success. Each time she begins a collection, Tina applies for a permit from gardai, who have a record of all of her collections. "What gives me the greatest satisfaction is the joy on the people's faces that you have just helped. It is very heart-warming.' The biggest highlight for me was little Stephen Custy Price, who had holes in his heart and we helped him out for an operation. He survived, grew up and years later came to me with a chocolate heart and said 'this is for the heart you gave me'. It was very emotional," Tina said. Stephen and his family attended the event to show their support for Tina and his mother told me, "This lady has made such a difference to people's lives, as well as being instrumental in saving people's lives."
