something being more complex doesnt mean its more skillfull in my opinion.Theres less complexity to turntablism, but it's a hell of alot more skillfull. scratching can take years to learn, not to mention the fact that it's much more entertaining to watch and perform that way. With the digital stuff it seems the only task your faced with is learning where the right buttons are and getting your head around what does what. It's a shame in my opinion and it's taking the art of dj'in.

@b11v51q68y Effects are for mixers, not CDJ's

i currently have cdj 800's and going to buy cdj 400's soon. the cdj 800 is too simple in my opinion. its got no effects which can make your mix boring. If you are not a scratch dj, but the cdj 400. If you have enough money, buy the cdj 1000 mk3 . Also, im buying the cdj 400 because of its smaller size and capability of using an ipod, which means you can carry less stuff around when going to your gigs

this dudes the man

oh, just venturing into pro dj'ing are you?

the gear is killer but the mix sounds like a bunch of noise.

cdj 1000's mate.
Seems like cd dj-ing is a less talented way to produce the effects skilled vinyl djs take years to master. Just a thought.

Im sure many digital djs would argue against this. Whilst a CDJ makes things easier in terms of cue points, you can add and manipulate hundreds of effects possibly making it more complex than a vinyl dj.

can anyone help me? when I copy data from one sd card to the other using a cdj, does it erase the data already on the card that is being written or does it make a duplicate.
plz reply thx

hello HTFR
i just wanted to know if i could record my voice through the headphones and add fx to it , if i have the djm 800 and the pioneer cdj1000mk3?
or do i also need the EFX 1000?
how did Rik do that?
thankyou

You can record your voice through the headphones into the DJM 800 and use the effects unit built into that to add fx, same way you'd capture a small loop from the cdj. Adding an EFX1000 or 500 would allow you to add even more effects however.
