  • 'Ebelskivers' (Æbleskiver) means 'slices of apples' in danish, and it's a Christmas tradition. In denmark we usually make them without filling, and eat them with powder sugar and strawberry jam. You can also use jam as filling. But apples must of course be the original filling. I'll definitely try that the next time I'm going to make 'Appleslices'. Thanks for the video

  • @chrbu22 I have the heavy iron pan for them but if I use enough Crisco, they don't stick at all. The temp has to be just right. Otherwise they get brown or burned too fast if your pan is too hot and that side not cooked enough. Too low temp and they soak up too much fat and don't cook right. I learned by watching my MIL. She sometimes got them too brown the first batch. You proof the dough once I remember, then stir down and start frying.

  • @chrbu22 Hi, I don't know why I said I didn't like the raisins, guess I do. We call them Ferden. Here is what I have from a girl at work, heavy German area, and tasted just like my MIL's: Dissolve 1 pkg yeast into 1/4 C warm water; Add 4 eggs, beaten, 1 teaspoon salt, 1/2 C sugar; 1/2 C cream, 3 cups milk, 4-1/2 cups flour, 1/4 teaspoon cardamom, 1 cup raisins rinsed and soaked. Makes a huge batch. And they're best hot off the grill, don't know if they store well but maybe ok warmed.

  • @BridgetoSomewhere My family has been making the German version (with yeast) for years as well. What do you call them? We have a silly name. I'd love to share recipes!

  • her two stick method is best of all shown here.

  • The spoons drive me crazy. Use a measuring cup lady! It goes a lot faster. Use Aunt Jemima pancake mix, it has eggs and everything in them.

  • i put nutella in these, best. thing. ever.

  • english american takoyaki! xD

  • Those look good. I've been making the German version which uses a dough the consistency of hers but has yeast and a little cardamon. You can put raisins in but I like them better plain. Then roll the finished ball in granulated sugar. I don't have a nonstick pan and fill the molds about half full of Crisco solid. Have to keep repeating each batch, think I turned them with a fork, easy once you get on a roll.

  • awesome!

  • Showing the height of the flame would have been helpful...

  • i like takoyaki best! but those look delicious!!

  • yummmmm!
