I was 13 years old when the genocide began in Bosnia. I was separated from my parents and there were periods I did not know if they were alive or dead. Three years later, we were reunited.
My uncle and his family were not so fortunate. When he was killed, my aunt was pregnant and my cousin, his son, was only three years old. They were transported by the UN from their home to a neighboring town, while he and the other men in their town were placed on lock-down.
Our family has lived through a horrific tragedy, one that we will never understand.
Ive pledged to use my voice to empower others to take action against genocide.
Will you join me?
Make a gift today to support Genocide Intervention Network so that we will see the day when stories like mine don't happen.
