Straight to the Heart, as always :-)

@0ntology amen to that, love DC big time....great to hear old friends with fresh breath put in them

I miss the eccentricity such as in albums like 'The Dreaming'. Back then her music was more driven, crazy, unpredictable. In 'Aerial' she started singing about washing machines.I hope for her that the contentment in her productions reflects the contentment she has found in life. As an artist, well, let's wait for her snow-album in November.

Hmmn I'm a huge Kate fan, however I'm not sure about this reworking etc.
-
just checking the album out now and I must say, aside from a track or two (this one and this woman's work'), I'm not super stoked.

I have followed Kate's work since 1985 and loved all her albums.....but....Director's Cut is bloody awful. Whenever an artist returns to previously released work to re-interpret, revisit, remix, or just to supposedly update it...its not a good sign. What was she thinking??? Kate, leave your back catalog alone and get on with new material.

@treeoftears You may be younger, but you've proven yourself to be considerably more mature and respectful than 0MirrorGirl.
-
@0MirrorGirl I guess you just don't like metaphors. Substitute older for wiser, spring for youth, autumn for middle age...
We are not robots, we do not need plain prose.
-
@treeoftears I rather think you missed my point, which was satirical. Perhaps when YOU are older, you'll understand that tortured "poetry" doesn't play as well as simple, well-written prose, as demonstrated here. You have drawn a meaningless comparison because you don't actually say which version is the "spring" and which the "autumn." As I said, lots of words, little sense.
And I believe I am considerably older than you, my dear.
The difference between this and the original is as different as spring and autumn. As much as I love the delicate flowers of spring and the thick green grass of summer, they could never replace for me the sight and scent of mouldering moist leaves on a forest floor in the depths of autumn. The pungent scent of such gentle decay has its own beauty, equal to any of the sweet fragrances of youth. In the woods decay is everywhere mixed with growth, and dark with light, and death with life. I weep.

kate said she wanted to do these remakes for herself, we're lucky she decided to share them! if you don't like DC, the originals are still there and you can forget DC exists. it's hard to enjoy DC if you're comparing the songs directly to the originals. i adore DC, especially the new Rubberband Girl, Lily, Never Be Mine, among others! DC really is remarkable if you can manage let go of the originals, most of the songs take on entirely new meanings. close minded old farts :P
