Beat It solo and Panama (1984 era tone study - Panama Session)

This is just me playing the guitar... I didn't include any backing track. Tried to cop a couple of Eddie's 1984 era tones. The Beat It solo is my interpretation... there are a couple of mild inconsistencies, but I think that I nailed the "spirit" of the solo. Of course Eddie played the solo to another section of the song (that would later be discarded) with more chord changes. So, Quincy had the engineer cut and paste the most choice licks from Eddie's solo to fit another part of the song. The solo which we all got to hear was a composite and Eddie didn't actually play the licks in that order.

Panama is my attempt at a faithful recreation of the guitar track of the song. I used the detuned and panned (L-R) tracks that they used the Eventide for for color and emphasis. I left the solo rather dry because that's how the recording sounds. The tempo was a little sloppy but the take had a lot of fire just like the "Beat It" solo.

I actually fired off the Beat It solo in between takes of Panama because I wasn't getting it and was frustrated. I just played the solo to blow off some steam and managed to get past all of the parts that usually give me problems... I'm really glad I captured the performance.

I just threw together some public domain retro videos and let 'er rip.

Is this a plexi or are you using an amp modeler?
