Robert Schumann composed his set of 4-hand piano pieces Bilder aus dem Osten (Pictures from the East) in 1848, and subtitled them "6 Impromptus". There is nothing oriental about these pieces, I suppose Schumann was referring to the east of Germany where he lived and worked.

My good piano friend David Dekker played these with me today on march 19, 2014. Thanks David for another good day of recording. I hope to see you back soon for the Dvorak Legends !
