GO PRO ON HULA HOOP

@SpecialDux if you honestly think its fake, your I.Q has to be under 50... Sorry, but you can see the shadow of the hoop and her on the ground. you can even see the little camera hanging off the hoop. So marshall your powers of concentration, limited as they may be, and think about it... this is real and this is how it would look if your ass was glued to a hula hoop, and you were watching the action. Also, work on that I.Q.

@nsaik hehe as my previous comment, OR i too am being fooled... i think ill put a marker on my hoop and see for myself the rotations (but if you're still interested in experimenting with go-pro and hooping try out what i was *attempting* to explain :) )

@nsaik from my point of view as a hooper isnt your sister spinning around in the opposite direction to the hoop? she could do the opposite too- spin her body WITH the hoop- isolating it on her back, exactly opposite the camera, and it would look almost as if you were looking into the eyes of someone you were holding hands with and spinning round together. not sure if that explained it well, its easier is to see it/do it!

That is so cool. How did you manage to do it without the camera smacking you in the body or anything.
-
This is neat, but you should've put some music to it.

@OdinofWei get a hoop just for this purpose, drill a hole parallel with the hoop through the hoop wall, all the way through, use a bolt and the little tripod mount, bolt it through the hole with the tripod mount on the outside of the hoop. use one connector arm and position the camera BELOW the hoop. this is key, it won't rotate well if you mount the camera above the hoop. position the camera, check the angle, and wrap the crap out of it with duct tape or gaff tape. should work great :)

Totally fake. These people obviously spend hundreds of thousands of dollars to make CGI real enough just to fool you.

@phreakhead I hope this is sarcasm. People have no idea how CGI looks, or works, or how expensive it is to do... This would cost so much to fake... and just to fool people on youtube? No, this is real, practical film making. Give a cinematographer some credit, not everything cool is done by an animator. Anyone who thinks this is too hard to film, youtube BUSTER KEATON... if they could pull off shots like that 80 years ago, why is it so hard to accept this as a REAL, COOL, SHOT?

Don't know for sure about the fake thing, what's sure is that i've never seen a hula takes 3 sec to make a total turn around the body. Based on when the gopro is on the body. 0:06 and the next 0:09
It really seems kind of unpossible from my point.
I would love an external shot of this scene please !
It makes you wana throw up fake or not. Good job anyway.

@juliendemond it takes 3 seconds for a particular portion of the hoop to make one rotation yes, but if you think in terms of reference frame, technically every time she "rotates" once around, thats the hula-hoop making what would appear as one rotation to our eyes. The hoop's circumference takes several rotations around her body to make a full loop, plus with centrifugal force of the camera weight, the hoop tends to "slide" a little bit, thus taking even longer to make a full rotation.
