For the original version in French look for Veronique Sanson, a beautiful song in both languages.

Funny how songs remind you of events - this song reminds me of being about 13 years old skating at Durham Ice rink (speakers were rubbish) ! A very fond memory and a lovely song - Kiki Deee was the first major artist I ever saw supporting Elton John on his Yellow Brick road tour - she was great

One of the most beautiful popular music songs to come out of the 73, in fact the entire 1970's.

@Sadtune1 I wonder if the French Lyrics translate? She did also do it in English with these lyrics, is that the version you meant?. But as the songwriter I doubt she cares. Helen Reddy also had a hit with the same tune and yet again different lyrics It's a brilliantly clever tune to play that has many clever little moves.

I've been searching for this song for ages. I couldn't remember the name of it.
Some great rock and roll was made in the 70s. This is an example of a magnificent romantic pop song from that era. It isn't just the lyrics; it's the way Kiki Dee sings it. Her rendition or interpretation is outstanding. I believe every word she sings. No need for any fancy video when the song is this good. Thanks for posting.

Lovely song. Beautiful singer.

No autotune here, a true naturel singer, love it.

"should have told him...i'd do anything if i could hold him" ...
