Life in the Wonder City of Gold Jinguash

On the other side of the mountain is Jinguashi. Although originally this was a gold mining town, later on copper mines were also discovered here. Qitang Road is the biggest shopping street in Jinguashi, selling a lot of sundry goods. In contrast to Jiufen, a place that has recovered its old-time appeal, Jinguashi has kept to its original elements. Jiufen is a bustling tourist attraction. But just two or three years ago Jinguashi took the step of reconstructing the Gold Museum. To encourage community development, the village is building up a new program that includes exploration tours or country vacations. Right now, the Gold Museum is the centerpiece of Jinguashi, and many people look at Jinguashi differently now because of the museum. The Japanese set up many facilities and dorms when they came here to mine gold during the colonial period. 60 years have passed since they left, and some have been left in ruins while others survived the ravages of time. Thanks to private and government action, the Gold Museum was built to protect these precious historic and cultural heirlooms. With the splendor of the city of gold now little more than a flash in the memory, Jiufen and Ginquashi, after decades of emptying the mineral ores, awakened to a whole new look, and they are re-inviting the world to discover new treasures in this romantic gold-mining and mountain town culture.
