This Metro United Way project began as "Action Research" with parents and grandparents in Louisville's 40210 zip code neighborhoods to learn how the Ages & Stages Questionnaire (ASQ) could help parents understand how their child is developing. We learned that low levels of participation was about TRUST, and that putting the ASQ in the hands of trusted neighborhood leaders has helped five times as many low-income families as we previously had registered. These are families who are now staying with the program at the same rate as the general population, for children who are twice as likely to need some level of help.
