Shuto the monkey turned ape when he saw Matthias lifting a tree with Wayan Dollie by the parking at Katana Villa. We thought it was funny, but I really wonder why he did that. Does anyone know why a monkey would react like that?

  • When I see Shuto freaking out here I am reminded of the documentaries made by Jane Goodall and her chimpanzee troupe as well as some Natn'l Geo videos on Mountain Gorillas. I don't know about monkeys, but apes will uproot small trees and break off branches when behaving aggressively so as to intimidate a perceived threat. My guess is that Shuto may have believed that his Papa was "waging war" against an enemy. It must have frightened and confused him he might have thought Papa was in danger.

  • Maybe he thought it was a falling tree and was spooked by it. Seems plausible.

I enjoy your videos. Came across them by accident and spent the next 2 hours watching them. Probably because i live the fast paced life of New York while you live a laid back life everyone dreams about. What kind of books does Mathius write?
