Elton Britt has been a favorite of mine for many years. The man had perfect pitch and a 5 octave range. One of the few recording artist with that gift.

easily his best song, no contest, and what an awesome recording of it. i also like "Star-Spangled Banner Wavin' Somewhere," though that is terribly dated now, since it was a WW2 song.

This beautiful posting has escaped my attention for so long. Thanks.

Just goes to show there's no such thing as an original. Never heard of this singer before but if I had just heard him without reading anything else about him I would have thought it was Gene Autry singing the song. Just another of those far out coincidences:

His style is similiar to Gene Autry, and Gene recorded this song too.
